Foto al mare, foto in montagna, foto al ristorante, selfie, selfie, selfie, foodporn, orologi, gioielli, supercar, aerei privati, dati, dati, dati… Se c’è una cosa in cui Instagram ci ha aiutati, è a far schiattare di invidia i nostri follower o almeno a provarci. La nostra privacy sembra sia diventata la moneta di scambio perfetta per raggiungere quei famosi e tanto agognati “15 minuti di fama”, ma se c’è qualcuno che non vedremo mai ostentare la propria ricchezza si tratta proprio di chi veramente ricco lo è.
Way Out nasce anche da questa riflessione, dal tentativo di creare una “bolla di invisibilità”, perché, in un mondo di ipersorveglianza dove l’accumulo di dati è la più grande fonte di ricchezza forse il vero lusso è proprio diventare invisibili.

Seaside photos, mountain photos, restaurant photos, selfies, selfies, selfies, foodporn, watches, jewels, supercars, private planes, datas, datas, datas… If there is one thing that instagram has helped us to do, it is to make everyone die with envy or at least to try. Our privacy seems to have become the perfect bargaining chip to reach those famous and coveted “15 minutes of fame”, but if there is someone we will never see flaunting their wealth, those are the truly rich one.
Way Out arises also from this reflection, from the attempt to create a “bubble of invisibility”, because, in a world of oversurveillance where the accumulation of data is the greatest source of wealth, perhaps the real luxury is to become invisible.

Four Times Through The Labyrinth è un libro uscito nel 2012 per Spector Books. Un libro scarno. Essenziale. Ogni pagina è uguale: contiene una foto e qualche riga di testo. Ci sono solo 4 capitoli, che corrispondono ad altrettante conferenze sul tema del labirinto. Fine. Eppure, nella sua disarmante semplicità è una bomba, che vi fa capire cosa significa una lecture con tutti i crismi. Ma questa è la considerazione più ovvia. Continue reading →

È una raccolta di saggi sorprendente, 3 libri più un manuale, nata dal programma espositivo dell’HKW di Berlino tra il 2013 e il 2014, intitolato “The Anthropocene Project”. Grana, vapore e fasci di luce sono le tre chiavi di lettura con cui i curatori del progetto hanno analizzato i processi che stanno modificando l’aspetto della Terra, nei quali si intersecano il flusso della materia, le conversioni energetiche e l’attività umana. Siamo stati un po’ assenti negli scorsi mesi, lo sappiamo. Ma eravamo impegnati. Stavamo mettendo in ordine. E, facendolo, abbiamo ritrovato tante cose che negli anni sono servite per sviluppare la nostra ricerca. Abbiamo pensato di condividere i frutti del nostro decluttering raccontandovi ogni settimana un libro, la scena di un film, un album musicale o qualche aneddoto legato alle cose che abbiamo qui. Iniziamo il 15 Dicembre e andiamo avanti finché duriamo.

We’re honored we’ve contributed to curate this long and wonderful project.
The exhibition, part of Photo Open Up Festival, gathers some of the most innovative researches in contemporary photography presenting the work of twenty authors from different generation of Italian and European artists. The display, curated by Carlo Sala and The Cool Couple, presents a reflection on how images (be they artistic or vernacular) are always subjected to a process of reinterpretation according to the context – social media, smart devices, mass media, books, museums – or the historical period in which the public is situated.
