The Fuffy Wipe Case is a series of about surveillance and monitoring, given the fundamental role that scanning technologies and control politics play in our daily life.
The Fuffy Wipe Case, episode I. A Handful of dust, tells a fictional story the origin of which lies in some rumors about cleaning agencies operating in NATO military bases in Italy. The Fuffy Wipe is an electrostatic cloth that makes military planes impossible to be tracked by radar, and therefore invisible at all, because almost nobody is able to distinguish a warplane in flight from whether a drone or a passenger plane.
The story is included in a 100-copies fanzine, composed of archival images combined to create a visual context for the text. The core of the project lies in the relationship between a complex and expensive military apparatus and ordinary objects: it is a short-circuit that shows the dynamics of information, disinformation and the creation of collective representations.
